Marathonex to debate Sponsorship and hand out awards.
The inaugural Marathonex Conference & Awards will be held in Johannesburg on 4 April 2020, and it will debate “Sustainable Sponsorship and Marketing Strategies required for successful Marathons”.
According to Gerom Media, the organisers of Marathonex, the initiative comes as a response to a gap in this sector, where no event is currently being held with the sole focus, to have a conversation, on the commercial and business strategies, required for sustainable marathons.
Gerrit Davids, MD of Gerom Media says, “Most other high profile sports like soccer, rugby, and cricket, have their own conferences, attracting the best of minds, to exchange knowledge on the commercial issues pertaining to their respective codes, and why should marathons, not have its own platform to discuss pertinent marketing and sponsorship strategies, required to deliver successful events.”

Marathonex will feature highly interactive panel discussions, with industry thought leaders debating the best sponsorship and marketing practices, to exploit the overall commercial benefits afforded by marathons.
The Marathonex Awards will round off the proceedings, to bestow recognition and accolades, to celebrate commercial excellence in marathons, across the country.
Marathon organisers are invited to self-nominate in any amount of the available categories.
Runners are also invited to vote for their favourite running brands, and stand a chance to win, an all-expenses-paid weekend to watch the favourite South African marathon in 2020.
